Wingspan c.20 mm.

A local species in the British Isles, occurring on high moors and mountains in the north of England and Scotland.

It is an autumn-flying species, generally on the wing between August and October, after which it will overwinter to appear again in the spring.

The larvae feed in spun shoots or leaves of bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) and bog myrtle (Myrica gale).
