Wingspan c. 11mm.This species is locally common in the southern half of Britain, including Wales, and ranges north to Northumberland.
The adult moths have a yellowish blotch on the dorsum with a noticeable darker central spot. As they become worn, the blotch begins to lose its yellow tint and the species can be difficult to separate from similar Pammene species.
The larvae feed on a number of different sallow (Salix) species, spinning a shelter made from leaf fragments.
Adult moths fly in July and August, and can be seen resting on sallow leaves in the afternoons.
