1323 Pediasia contaminella

(Hübner, 1796)

Wingspan 20-30 mm.

Distributed mainly in the southern counties, this rather local species prefers dry grassy habitats.

It flies during July and August and is attracted to light.

The larvae feed in a silken tube amongst grasses such as sheep's fescue (Festuca ovina).
