1937b Lydd Beauty Peribatodes ilicaria

(Geyer, 1833)

Wingspan c. 30mm.

A rare migrant species to the British Isles, recorded in 1990 from Lydd, Kent since when there have been several more records, all from southern coastal localities.

The species occurs in Europe, where the larvae feed on a range of trees, and the adults fly from July to September.

It resembles Willow Beauty Peribatodes rhomboidaria but is generally more distinctly marked with heavier speckling.
