2206 Devonshire Wainscot Mythimna putrescens

(Hübner, 1824)

Wingspan 32-36 mm.

A local species, occurring mainly coastally in the south-western region of England and south Wales.

It inhabits grassy areas or cliffs close to the shore, and the larvae feed nocturnally on a range of grasses.

The adults fly in late July and August, and are attracted to various flowering plants, as well as sugar and light.
