2226 Beautiful Gothic Leucochlaena oditis

(Hübner, 1822)

Wingspan 28-36 mm.

An extremely local species, occurring only on parts of the south coast of England from the Isle of Wight westwards to Cornwall.

It inhabits sea-cliffs and sand hills, and flies in September and October, occasionally as early as August.

The larvae feed nocturnally on various grasses.
