The species occurs in central and southern Europe, and flies during March to May, The moth is superficially similar to the Dot Moth (Melanchra persicariae, but with a greenish lustre to the forewings.
The larvae feed on blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) and hawthorn (Crataegus).
