Wingspan 40 mm.

Although on the British list, the records of this species, all dating back to the 19th century, are now believed to be suspicious.

The species occurs in central and southern Europe, and flies during March to May, The moth is superficially similar to the Dot Moth (Melanchra persicariae, but with a greenish lustre to the forewings.

The larvae feed on blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) and hawthorn (Crataegus).
