2327 Clouded Brindle Apamea epomidion

(Haworth, 1809)

Wingspan 40-46 mm.

A mainly woodland species, with a scattered distribution over much of England, Wales and southern Scotland.

There is just one brood, flying in June and July, and the species frequently visits sugar, less frequently light.

The overwintering larva feeds on a range of grasses.
