2388 Lorimer's Rustic Paradrina flavirena

Wingspan c.28-34 mm.There is a single record of this species, taken at light in Middlesex in October 1967 during a period of immigrant activity. The species occurs naturally in southern Europe, extending to Asia.
The available documentation suggests that the moth resembles Pale Mottled Willow Caradrina clavipalpis, but rests with its wings rolled more tightly around the abdomen. However this is not borne out by the photos from South-western France, nor by other photos on the web. A more reliable characteristic may be the yellowish part of the reniform stigma, from which the scientific name is derived.
The larvae are said to feed on dandelion (Taraxacum and other herbaceous plants.
