992 Clepsis rurinana

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan c.16-20 mm.

Although fairly distinctive among Clepsis species, this moth can resemble several Pandenis species.

One feature not usually visible in the field is the hindwing, which is greyish with a whitish leading section.

It is rather scarce and local in Britain, with a few localities between the south coast and Yorkshire, and some records from Wales.

Adults fly in June and July, and the larvae feed on a number of shrubs and trees.
