Green Arches Anaplectoides prasina

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 40-50 mm.

Locally distributed in deciduous woodland throughout Britain, it is more common in Wales and the southern half of England.

The marbled greenish ground colour of the adults affords excellent camouflage when resting on moss- or lichen-covered trees and fences.

The adults fly in June and July and are occasionally attracted to light.

The caterpillars feed on a number of plants, including bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), honeysuckle (Lonicera) and knotgrass (Polygonium).
