Archips oporana

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan 19-28 mm.

Formerly something of a rarity, this species has been seen more frequently in recent years but is still scarce.

It occurs in southern and south-eastern England, in and around conifer plantations.

The adult flies in late June and July, from afternoon into dusk.

The larvae feed amongst the needles of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), silver fir (Abies alba) and other conifers.
