Small Grass Emerald Chlorissa viridata

(Linnaeus, 1758)


Wingspan 24-27 mm.

A scarce and local species, this moth is found on heathland in the southernmost English counties, but is retracting its range, and was formerly found elsewhere in Britain.

The main larval foodplants are heather (Calluna) and birch (Betula).

The flight period of the adults is June and July.
