The Mocha Cyclophora annularia

(Fabricius, 1775)

[Synonyms: annulata]
Wingspan 18-22 mm.

A rather attractive species, this moth is scarce, but widely distributed in woodland habitat throughout the southern part of Britain.

It is double-brooded, flying from May to early June, and then in late July and August.

The larval foodplant is field maple (Acer campestris).
