Dichomeris juniperella

(Linnaeus, 1761)

Wingspan c. 20mm.

This is a species of montane habitats, and in Britain is scarce and local, occurring in the mountains and glens of northern Scotland.

The larvae occur between April and July, and feed in a silken spinning on common juniper (Juniperus communis).

The adult moths fly at night in July and can also be beaten from juniper bushes. They have grey forewings with two larger and one smaller central black spots, and a row of blackish dots around the apex.
