Gelechia sabinellus

(Zeller, 1839)

Wingspan 15-18 mm.

A rare species in Britain, only recorded on a few occasions since the first record in 1971. It is suspected to have been introduced with garden conifers.

The species occurs in continental Europe, where the larva is stated to feed on juniper (Juniperus). The adults fly during August.

Like other coniferous-feeding species, it is likely to be found more regularly with the increase in importation of trees and bushes for gardens.
