Mecyna flavalis

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 25-29 mm.

A very local and scarce species in Britain, occurring on chalky downland and around rocky sea-cliffs on the south coast and south Wales.

The life history is not well known, but it is believed to feed on herbaceous plants.

The normal flight time is July and August during the night, but it can be disturbed easily in the daytime from short turf.
