Mompha locupletella

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan c.10 mm.

A very attractive species, with its combination of bright orange, white and silvery-grey patches, which is distributed widely throughout much of the British Isles, common in places.

The larvae mine the leaves of various species of willowherb (Epilobium), during April and May, then again in July and August. The mine is a whitish blotch with scattered blackish frass.

The two generations of adult moths are on the wing from May to July and again in August and September.
