Platyptilia calodactyla

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 18-25 mm.

A relatively local species, distributed throughout much of England, but preferring coastal areas.

The adult moths are rather similar in appearance to 1501 P. gonodactyla, with a rather broad forewing and prominent costal triangle.

The larva feeds in a stem of goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea), sometimes causing wilting of the leaves. Pupating inside the stem, the adult moth emerges around June or July.
