Thyme Moth Scrobipalpa artemisiella

(Treitschke, 1833)

As the English name suggests, this small and unassuming species feeds on wild thyme (Thymus praecox) as a larva, and can be found in dry and sandy places where the foodplant abounds.

With a weak flight, it is easily netted as it flies around the foodplant at dusk.

It is on the wing in June and July, and is present in suitable habitat over much of Britain.
