Dorset Cream Wave Stegania trimaculata

Wingspan 26-28 mm.

This geometer is a Southern European species only recorded from Britain on two occasions. The first individual was attracted to light in Dorset, hence the vernacular name, in 1978.

There was a second record, also from Dorset, in 2006.

On the continent, the moth is double brooded on the continent, flying in April/May and again in August.

The larvae feed on various species of Poplar.
