The Anomalous Stilbia anomala

(Haworth, 1812)

Wingspan 29-36 mm.

A fairly distinctive greyish moth, which occurs most commonly in the north and west of Britain, but also locally in parts of the south and east.

It is predominantly a moorland species, and flies in August and September, when it is attracted to light.

The caterpillars feed on various grasses, but especially wavy hair-grass (Deschampsia flexuosa).
