Introduction
Although UKMoths is now getting rather long in the tooth, it is still used by many people from all over the world, and for that reason it will stay online for as long as I can continue to support it. I don't seem to have the time these days to keep the site as up-to-date as I would like, and many descriptions are woefully out of date in terms of perceived distribution information and also flight periods, which have become much more fluid in recent times, undoubtedly due to climate change.
Another reason for keeping the site going is that it provides an API to allow the NatureGuides iOS App "Moths of Britain and Ireland" to pull images into the app. Although no longer available on the App Store, a recent issue with the API (see below) resulted in many people contacting the App developers reporting the problems; so it is apparently still widely used.
Apologies to anyone who has sent me information/images, or requested information and hasn't received a reply. I do try to respond but sometimes find it rather overwhelming and responses get forgotten.
Update: August 2025
I know, it's been a long time since I updated the site, but I've now migrated onto a new hosting platform which hopefully will reduce the number of glitches occurring.
Apologies to those who encountered problems in the first few days (from the end of July 2025) after I first moved over to the new hosting (including accessing the resources from the NatureGuides "Moths of Britain and Ireland" iOS App). There were quite a few technical challenges but I believe we're through most of them now.
