Wingspan c. 15mm.

This is a species of high moorland, inhabiting mountain bogs and similar habitats. It is most frequent in Scotland, northern England and North Wales, but occurs elsewhere in suitable habitat.

A day-flying species, it can be found on the wing between July and September on warm or sunny afternoons.

The larvae spin together the leaves or shoots of a range of high-ground herbaceous plants such as bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), feeding within.
