Acleris literana - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Acleris literana

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan 18-22 mm.

An inhabitant of oak (Quercus) woodland, this distinctive species is locally distributed, mainly in the southern half of Britain.

It is very variable, and many different forms have been described, but all have a combination of pale green ground colour with whitish and blackish markings.

The moth is on the wing in August and September, and again in April and May, having overwintered as an adult.
