Acleris lorquiniana

(Duponchel, 1835)

Wingspan c.18 mm.

Occurring in damp fenland habitat, particularly in Norfolk, but also in other parts of southern central and southern England, this species can be variable but usually shows a distinctive darker discal spot.

There are two generations, adults flying firstly in June-July and then in September-October.

The larva feeds on purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria), in the shoots and on the flowers and seeds.
