Agriphila straminella
Straw Grass-veneer

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 16-19 mm.

One of the plainer looking 'grass moths', this is also one of the most common, being present in good numbers throughout the whole of the British Isles.

The foodplants are various grasses, especially sheep's fescue (Festuca ovina), where the larvae feed internally on the lower part of the stems.

The flight period is mainly July and August, when the species is a frequent visitor to light.
