(Northern Deep-brown Dart) Aporophyla lueneburgensis
73.232 BF2231a
Wingspan c. 38-40mm
Until recently, this species was considered a separate species, but is presently believed to be the same species as Deep-brown Dart.
As the name suggests, the somewhat darker and greyer 'northern' forms occur over much of Scotland, Northern England and Wales, and the northern parts of Ireland.
The species flies in August and September over moorland and rough grassland, and the larvae feed mostly on heather (Calluna), and bird's-foot trefoil (Lotus corniculata)
