Apotomis sauciana

Wingspan 13-16 mm.

A species of moorland and hill districts, although it is found sometimes in lower elevations too.

It is distributed throughout England in suitable localities, and in Scotland the nominate subspecies is replaced by the paler ssp. grevillana.

The larvae feed in spun shoots of bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) and in Scotland also on bearberry (Arctostaphylos).

The adults fly during the afternoon and evening from June until August, and can be found resting on leaves of the foodplant during the day.
