Argyresthia dilectella - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Argyresthia dilectella

Zeller, 1847

Wingspan 7-9 mm.

A small moth, with a wingspan of about 8mm, this is one of several related species which are probably becoming more widespread as a result of the increase in garden juniper (Juniperus) and cypress (Chamaecyparis).

It flies at night in July and August, and can be attracted to strong light.

It is widely distributed in England and Wales, becoming scarcer in Scotland and Ireland.
