Wingspan c.18mm.

This species occurs in central and southern Europe and prior to 1990 was only known in The British Isles from four specimens found at Southampton in 1930. In 1990 it was found to be resident on Guernsey when a number of individuals were discovered in June of that year.

The larval stages are not well described but it is thought to feed on plant debris.

Adult moths have been found on the wing in June when they are attracted to light.
