Royal Mantle Catarhoe cuculata

(Hufnagel, 1767)


Wingspan 22-27 mm.

A locally distributed species occurring in southern England, parts of Ireland and Scotland.

It inhabits grassland, open woodland, limestone downland and lower mountain slopes.

It is single-brooded and flies in June and July.

The larvae feed on bedstraw (Galium).
