Formerly treated as a separate species, this is now generally thought to be a subspecies of Common Marbled Carpet (D. truncata). It inhabits high moorland habitats, where the foodplant, heather (Calluna) abounds, and there is just one generation (unlike Common Marbled Carpet), with moths flying in July and August.
It is found only in the far north-west of Scotland, including the Isle of Arran and the Inner and Outer Hebrides.
