Wingspan 14-18 mm.

A very distinctive species which is so far only known from Glen Affric, Inverness-shire in the British Isles.

The adults occur in July and August and have been found visiting thistle flowers.

The larva lives under a silken web spun between the sides of the upper surface of a birch leaf (Betula spp.) causing the leaf to curl upwards; frass is caught in the silken web. Like that of Choreutis pariana, the larva eats part of the upper surface which then turns brown
