Coleophora nutantella

Wingspan c. 17mm.

Distributed mostly in the southern and south-eastern counties of England, this species has also been recorded from further north, as well as in Wales.

The larva forms a tubular silken case attached to the side of a seed pod of bladder campion (Silene vulgaris and other Silene species, and feeds on the seeds within.

Adult moths are generally white with creamy-ochre longitudinal streaks and speckles of black. They occur from June to August and are attracted to light.
