Dusky Scalloped Oak Crocallis dardoinaria

Donzel,1840

Wingspan 46-52 mm.

An adventive immigrant species which has only recently been recorded in the British Isles, since the first two records in 1990 in the Channel Islands.

The moth is now established in Guernsey, where the slow-growing larvae feed on and broom (Cytisus) and possibly gorse (Ulex), remaining torpid during the winter. It has yet to reach the British mainland.

The adults are similar in appearance to Scalloped Oak, but are quite heavily speckled by comparison.
