Elachista triatomea

(Haworth, 1828)

Wingspan 8-9 mm.

One of several similar whitish Elachistidae, the specific name triatomea describes the three darker specks on the pale forewing.

It is distributed from south-east England to southern Scotland, but not present in south-west England and Wales, and only scattered in Ireland.

The adult moths fly in June and July, and frequent grassland, where the larvae mine blades of fescue grass (Festuca).
