Purple Marbled Eublemma ostrina

(Hübner, [1808])

Wingspan 18-25 mm.

A scarce migrant, mainly along the south coast, usually with single figures, but in 1992 over 50 instances of either adults or larvae were recorded.

The arrival dates are scattered, with moths recorded between March and October.

The larvae feed on the flowers and seeds of carline thistle (Carlina vulgaris).
