Marbled Pug Eupithecia irriguata

(Hübner, [1813])

Wingspan 18-20 mm.

A quite local species, inhabiting oak woodland, and occurring mainly in southern England, most notably in the New Forest.

Flying from late April to early June, the adults are attracted to light and can sometimes be found resting on tree-trunks in the daytime.

The caterpillar is green with reddish marks, and feeds on the leaves of oak (Quercus).
