Rush Wainscot Globia algae

(Esper, 1788)


Wingspan 32-45 mm.

A very local species, with a few scattered colonies in various south and south-east localities, frequenting ponds, gravel pits and fens.

The flight period is August and September, and the species responds to light.

The caterpillars feed inside the stems of common club-rush (Scirpus lacustris), reed-mace (Typha spp.) and yellow iris (Iris pseudacorus).
