Ruddy Highflyer Hydriomena ruberata

(Freyer, [1831])


Wingspan 32-37 mm.

Occurring locally in northern Britain and also the south-west, inhabiting open habitats such as moors, heaths and lightly woodead areas.

The adults fly in May and June from dusk onwards, when they are attracted to light.

The larvae feed on various sallows, but especially eared willow (Salix aurita).
