The Nonconformist Lithophane lamda
73.205 BF2239
Wingspan c. 39-44mm.
There are around a dozen or so British records of this attractive species, all from the late 19th to early 20th century, but none have been recorded here since 1938.
Most records in Britain are from September to October but elsewhere in its range it overwinters as and adult and reappears on the wing from late February to May.
The species is associated in its natural range with wet boggy moorland where the main foodplant, bog myrtle (Myrica gale) and other damp moorland plants can be found.
