Mompha epilobiella - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Mompha epilobiella

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 10-13 mm.

This member of the Momphid family is often common wherever its foodplant occurs, particularly in England and Wales.

The adult hibernates and can be found throughout the year, most commonly in July and August, often being attracted to light.

Like many of its relatives the larvae feed on various willowherbs, forming spinnings amongst its shoots.
