Lunar Underwing Omphaloscelis lunosa
Wingspan 32-38 mm.
A variable species, with individuals ranging from yellowish orange to dark brown. The darker forms usually show contrasting pale veins and cross-lines, giving a 'netted' appearance.
Relatively common in the southern half of Britain, and more local northwards to central Scotland, the single generation flies from August to October and regularly visits artificial light.
The larvae overwinter and feed on various grasses.
