Pammene regiana - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Pammene regiana

(Zeller, 1849)

Wingspan 13-16 mm.

Fairly common over most of Britain, this beautiful little moth occurs on the wing from May to July.

The larvae feed inside the seeds of sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), and pupate in a crevice of the bark. Newly hatched moths can sometimes be found resting on the bark before they move higher into the canopy.

The adults fly from late afternoon into the night, and can be attracted to light.
