A rare immigrant species to the south and south east coast of England, with only around a dozen or so records since the first individual in 1977.

The adults resemble a number of related species and care should be taken in their identification.

Typically, arrivals on these shores have been scattered between June and October.

The larvae feed on varieties of mullein (Verbascum).
