Goldenrod Plume Platyptilia calodactyla - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Goldenrod Plume Platyptilia calodactyla

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 18-25 mm.

A relatively local species, distributed throughout much of England, but preferring coastal areas.

The adult moths are rather similar in appearance to 1501 P. gonodactyla, with a rather broad forewing and prominent costal triangle.

The larva feeds in a stem of goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea), sometimes causing wilting of the leaves.

Pupating inside the stem, the adult moth emerges around June or July.
