Pseudoswammerdamia combinella

(Hübner, 1786)

Wingspan 13-16 mm.

Distributed sparsely throughout most of Britain, this is one of the larger species in its group, with a wingspan of up to 16mm.

The dark-bordered orange spot at the end of the forewing is diagnostic.

Flying in May and June, the adults are sometimes attracted to light. Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) is the foodplant, the small larvae leaf-mining at first, and later living externaly in a silken web.
