Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Banded Pine Carpet Pungeleria capreolaria

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 30-38mm.

The first British records of this European species were in 2014 when four individuals turned up in various localities in Sussex, Kent and the Isle of Wight. Since then a small number of additional records have been encountered in southern counties.

Abroad, the species is found in southern and central/eastern Europe, occupying coniferous forests.

The larvae feed from autumn and through the winter on Silver Fir (Abies alba) and Norway Spruce (Picea abies).
