Rock-rose Runner

Wingspan c. 10mm.

This somewhat unassuming species occurs in scattered localities on calcareous grassland in south-eastern and central England, ranging north to Cumbria.

The moths fly during the day, especially in sunshine, emerging around June or July, but sometimes being found as late as September.

The larval foodplant is rock-rose (Helianthemum sp.), the larvae forming a loose spinning near the base of the plant and eating the upper surface of the lower leaves.
